Mirabaud Group’s Commitment to Civic Contribution

Since its founding in 1819, international banking and financial services provider Mirabaud Group has been dedicated to operating in a sustainable and socially responsible way.

In addition to striving to provide a culture that will allow employees to express their talent, share their passion and produce their best work, the Swiss company has implemented environmentally conscious principles into its operations and investments.

Mirabaud is taking steps to directly reduce its environmental impact and natural resource use, by measuring the direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions linked to its electricity consumption, assessing its carbon footprint and implementing related business travel and other measures, including encouraging recycling in its offices.

Environmental criteria are taken into account in the company’s equipment and service purchasing decisions to facilitate responsible sourcing. Mirabaud’s socially responsible investing efforts include offering a comprehensive range of products and services that align with clients’ expectations and integrate environmental, social and governance values.

Since 2010, Mirabaud has been a signatory of the United Nation’s Principles for Responsible Investment and was awarded the highest rating—A+—in the field for its overall strategy and governance.

In an address to attendees at the 2021 Private Banking Day annual event, sponsored by the Association of Swiss Private Banks, Yves Mirabaud, Mirabaud Group’s Senior Managing Partner, Mirabaud SCA, who also serves as ASPB’s chairman, noted efforts to fight climate change are increasingly factoring into financial work.

“While the profitability of an investment was once the primary consideration, its sustainability is now a decisive criterion, too,” Mirabaud said.

Championing the Arts

Throughout its years in business, Mirabaud Group has also been invested in supporting the contemporary art world via partnerships with the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, the Quartiers des Bains association in Geneva, the International Contemporary Art Fair in Paris and Zurich Art Weekend, a public forum involving many of the city’s museums, entities and galleries.

Mirabaud has sponsored additional art-related initiatives, as well, including gifting the city of Geneva in Switzerland, where the company is headquartered, a work of art by the artist Not Vital in 2019—a year which Yves Mirabaud called “memorable” for Mirabaud Group, and “filled with festivities celebrating our bicentenary.” The company also provided free entry to the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Geneva throughout 2019 to mark Mirabaud Group’s 200th anniversary.

In addition to contributing to artistic events, Mirabaud has constituted over the years an impressive collection of contemporary art with works from Swiss and international artists

Mirabaud’s contemporary library includes works from renowned artists such as Marina Abramović—known for a collaboration with her former companion, in which they marked the end of their relationship by walking toward each other from opposite sides of the Great Wall of China, and a 736-hour performance at MoMA in New York that involved sitting silently across a table from visitors in 2010.

The collection also features emerging artists, such as Omar Ba, Antoine Roegiers and Fabian Marti.

Community-Focused Content

Contemporary paintings, photography and sculpture haven’t been the company’s only field of interest in the arts. Mirabaud has also shared its love of classical music through concerts it has organized with prominent orchestra conductor Joji Hattori in locations where the company has an office

For several years, Mirabaud has also sponsored the Balearic Islands’ symphony orchestra, founded in 1988, which performs works from Balearic and other composers and offers an educational program for disadvantaged social groups.

Mirabaud has also supported the Société de Lecture de Genève, a historic cultural center and library in Geneva that hosts lectures, readings and other events. Mirabaud’s assistance provided the institution with additional means to broaden access to literature—and offer the public a chance to encounter notable contemporary authors.
